Revision of Design qualification
National Certificate in Design (Kitchen Design) (Level 3) [Ref: 1300]
The Joinery ITO has revised the qualification listed above.
Date new version published February 2009
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Reason for the revision
This qualification was designed for a sector that had not previously used standards based assessment. The initial use of the qualification has shown that some of the standards selected for inclusion in the qualification were not appropriate for people who worked in the kitchen design sector and that other standards (2543 and 2545) were more appropriate for inclusion in the National Certificate in Design (Kitchen Design) (Level 2) [Ref: 1473]. The qualification was consequently revised to remove those standards and replace them with standards more appropriate to the sector's needs.

Four standards were removed from the qualification and two standards were added.

Changes to structure and content
· Credit total has decreased from 63 to 55.
· Standards 62, 1277, 2543 and 2545 have been removed from the compulsory section.
· Standards 497 and 19605 have been added to the compulsory section.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1 of this qualification may either complete the requirements of that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification. The last date for assessments to take place for version 1 is December 2010.
