Review of Te Ao Tūroa qualification

National Certificate in Te Ao Tūroa (Level 3) [Ref: 0931]

The Sport, Fitness and Recreation Industry Training Organisation Limited has completed the review of the above qualification.

Date new version published                                                             February 2009

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.

Summary of review and consultation process

An advisory group was convened to consider the impact of the expiry of standard 1813 on the National Certificate in Te Ao Tūroa (Level 3) [Ref: 0931].  The advisory group determined that the qualification still met the needs of industry without standard 1813 and did not need further changes other than to add more choice to Elective 2 and reflect version changes to standard 6402.

Main change resulting from the review

Following this review, the expiring standard 1813 was removed from the Elective 3 section of this qualification.  This standard was designated as expiring following a review of the Community Support Services Industry Training Organisation's standards because it was decided that the standard was no longer required by industry.  Standard 4573 was also removed from the list of standards specified in Elective 3 as it is included in the listed Outdoor Recreation subfield, and the Tourism Māori subfield was added to Elective 2 to give candidates a wider choice of standards to complete the elective.
