Date new versions published                                                          January 2009

Planned review date                                                                           December 2013

Summary of review and consultation process

The unit standards were due for review.  The Casino Gaming Advisory Group, comprised of representatives from casinos of New Zealand, met to determine and discuss whether existing unit standards were still fit for purpose, and to identify any gaps within them.  The Casino Gaming Advisory Group represents a development in the industry's attitude and a commitment to using unit standards to train its staff.

Drafts of unit standards were circulated to the Casino Gaming Advisory Group for feedback.  All feedback collected was considered and, where appropriate, incorporated into the unit standards.  Several drafts were developed in order to accommodate the needs of stakeholders.  The final versions of the unit standards were then endorsed by the Casino Gaming Advisory Group.

Main changes resulting from the review

·      Unit standard 15711 has increased to level 5 from 4 to reflect managerial and supervisory responsibility.

·      Legislation has been changed in the special notes.  All references to the Casino Control Act 1990 have been replaced by the Gambling Act 2003.

·      Amendments have been made to titles, elements, performance criteria, ranges, and special notes as required.
