Revision of Poultry Production qualification
National Certificate in Poultry Production (Level 2) with strands in Egg Production, Poultry Hatchery, and Poultry Meat Production [Ref: 0886]
The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification listed above.
Date new versions published January 2009
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Reason for the revision
The qualification was revised to update standards that had changed as a result of a review.
Feedback from industry indicated that changes were required to the compulsory standards to reflect changes in industry practices which require all trainees to handle poultry. A new standard was developed and has been added to the core compulsory section to reflect this new industry requirement.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· credits for standards 497, 17997, 18002, 18006, and 18016 have been updated to reflect changes made at review
· standards 17999 and 18008 were replaced by standard 25108 in the Egg Production Strand Compulsory and Poultry Meat Production strand
· standard 18000 was replaced by 25109 and has been moved from the Egg Production Strand Compulsory to the Egg Production Strand Elective; standard 18000 was replaced by 25109 in the Poultry Meat Production Strand
· standard 18001 was replaced by 25110 and has been moved to the Core Compulsory section
· total credits have changed from 51-58 to 57-62.
Transition
Training programmes or courses for version 5 of the qualification may start as soon as the qualification is registered.
The last date for assessments to take place for version 4 of the qualification is 31 December 2011.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.
