Summary of review and consultation process

An advisory group consisting of representatives from Maritime New Zealand and prominent fishing companies were invited to participate in the review of standards in the Seafood Vessel Operations domain and these qualifications in May 2008.  The purpose of the review was to ensure that the standards and qualifications continued to meet the needs of the industry.

In terms of the qualifications, there were only minor issues identified.  The qualifications were updated in keeping with these identified issues and endorsed by the advisory group prior to submission to NZQA.
