Summary of review and consultation process
The Casino Surveillance Advisory Group, comprised of representatives from the casinos of New Zealand, carried out a review of these Casino Surveillance standards as they were due for review. The aim was to determine and discuss whether existing standards were still fit for purpose and to identify any gaps within them. It was deemed important that the standards be achievable by employees in all casinos in New Zealand, not just the larger ones.
Feedback was obtained on the proposed new standard and proposed changes to the remainder and agreement obtained.
Main changes resulting from the review
· A new standard 25672 was created to cover ensuring internal compliance.
· Credits in standard 12791 were raised to 20 to better reflect the time taken for learning and assessment.
· Credits in standard 12793 were increased from 5 to 6, to better reflect the time taken for learning and assessment.
· Level in standard 12795 was decreased from 5 to 4, and credits were decreased from 8 to 6, to better reflect the contents of this standard which is more in line with operator level skills.
· Level in standard 12797 was increased from 4 to 5, and credits were increased from 6 to 8, to better reflect the learning demand, and time taken for learning and assessment.
· Legislation was updated in special notes.
· Amendments were made to titles, elements, performance criteria, ranges, and special notes.
