Revision of Rural Contracting qualifications

InfraTrain New Zealand has revised the qualifications listed above.
Date new versions published June 2009
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013 (unchanged).
Reason for the revision
The revisions were carried out following feedback from industry that in some work situations there are legislative and formal requirements for operators that need to be met and these should be included in the qualifications. At the same time it was noticed that the prerequisite diagrams had errors and were not complete.
Main changes resulting from the revision
Standard 23436 was added to the qualifications and the prerequisite diagrams were amended.

Changes to structure and content
· The credit range table was updated.
· The level of compulsory standard 21544 was decreased from 4 to 3.
· Standard 23436 was added to the elective section.
· The prerequisite diagram was corrected and updated.
There are no transition consequences as a result of these changes.

Changes to structure and content
· Credit tables were updated.
· Standard 23436 was added as a compulsory standard for the Transport optional strand.
· The credit total for the qualification with the Transport strand was increased from 94 to 98.
· The prerequisite diagram was corrected and updated.
Transition
InfraTrain recommends that trainees who wish to complete the Transport strand transfer their results to version 6 so that they meet current legislative requirements.
Other trainees currently working towards version 5 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to this version by December 2011.
The last date for assessment leading to the award of version 5 is December 2011.
New trainees will be enrolled in programmes leading to the new version of the qualification.
