Summary of review and consultation process
In December 2008 an expert panel meeting was held to consider the content of the reviewed unit standards and the National Certificate Dairy Farming (Herd Testing) [Ref: 1214]. Recommendations were made to increase the credit values of some standards to reflect the actual time required to meet all the outcomes. During January 2009 the herd testing sector was consulted regarding the recommendations the expert panel made. Sector feedback was considered and included where appropriate.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Standard 22019 was designated expiring and replaced by two new standards 25696 and 25697.
· Credits were increased for standards 22017, 22018, and 22020.
· Credits were decreased for standard 22022.
· Range statements were rationalised at element and performance criteria level.
· Special notes relating to concurrent assessment were removed as many integrated assessment options exist and it was misleading to highlight examples.
· Reference within special notes was updated to New Zealand Standard (NZS) 8100:2007 Dairy herd testing.
The unit standard categorised as category C will expire at the end of December 2012.

It was reviewed in conjunction with the listed unit standards. While content changes have been made as a result of consultation with the sector the following changes will be made as a result of this review:
· 22019 has been replaced by 25696 and 25697 from the elective section of the qualification
· 22017, 22018, 22020, and 22022 have had changes to their credit value.
