Revision of Agriculture qualification
National Certificate in Agriculture (Level 2) with strands in Cattle Farming, Dairy Farming, Deer Farming, and Sheep Farming [Ref: 1434]
The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification listed above.
Date new versions published March 2009
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Reason for the revision
The revision was carried out as feedback from industry indicated that some standards were either incorrectly placed, or not required, in the qualification.
Main changes resulting from the revision
A standard was moved from the strand to the compulsory section, standards from the compulsory section were removed, and a standard from the Deer Farming strand was removed as the content was the same as a standard in the compulsory section.
Changes to structure and content
· Elective 1 was restructured to include sets containing prerequisite theory standards together with their corresponding practical standard.
· Standard 24630 was moved from the Cattle Farming, Dairy Farming, and Sheep Farming strands to the Compulsory section.
· Standard 24812 was removed from the Deer Farming strand as the content is already covered in standard 24630.
· Standards 19081 and 24542 were removed from the Compulsory section as they are no longer required.
· Standard 19112 was added to the Compulsory section.
· Total qualification credits changed from 45-60 to 44-57.
Transition
The start date for programmes or courses for version 2 of the qualification is on registration. The last date for entry to programmes or courses for version 1 of the qualification is June 2009.
The last date for assessments to take place for version 1 of the qualification is June 2010.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.
