Review of Joinery qualification

The Joinery Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualification listed above.
Date new version published March 2009
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014.
Summary of review and consultation process
In December 2008 the Laminate Fabrication Advisory Group met to review the Laminate Fabrication standards and qualification. As a result of changes to the standards, the qualification was also looked at to determine whether it was still fit for purpose. The development of one new standard and the changes to the existing standards required the qualification to be updated. The changes were endorsed by stakeholders in December 2008.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Changes to credit total.
· Changes to standard classifications, titles, levels and credits due to review.
· Inclusion of new standards.

Changes to structure and content
· Credit total has increased from 111 to 133.
· Standards 8609, 17125, 17126, 17128, 17135, 17137, and 25606 have been added to the qualification.
· Standard 98 has been removed from the qualification.
· Classifications, titles, levels and credits have been updated following the standards review.
Transition
People currently working towards version 4 of this qualification may either complete the requirements of that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification.
The last date for assessment of version 4 is 31 December 2011.
