Summary of review and consultation process
Feedback from industry and assessors indicated that unit standards related to gas transmission needed to be transferred from Petrochemical Industry and required review to suit Gas Transmission requirements.
The Petrochemical Industry Sector Advisory Group (SAG) and the Gas Industry SAG cooperated in the 2008 review of the above unit standards, with the Gas Industry SAG overseeing the review process. Some unit standards in the above domains were excluded from the review because they are not related to gas transmission.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standards 9542, 9543, 9545, and 9572 have been designated expiring and will not be replaced.
· All unit standards have been transferred to the Gas Transmission Operations domain under the Gas Industry subfield and have been transferred from AMAP 0124 to AMAP 0114.
· Elements, performance criteria, range statements, and special notes have been updated and amended to reflect the needs of the gas industry.
· Levels have increased for unit standards 9555, 18415, 18418, and 18419 to better reflect the complexity of the knowledge and skills required.
· Levels have decreased for unit standards 9546 and 9551 to better reflect the complexity of the knowledge and skills required.
· Credits have increased for unit standards 9551, 9555, and 18418 to better reflect the learning, practice and assessment time required to meet the standard.
· Credits have decreased for unit standard 9546 to better reflect the learning, practice and assessment time required to meet the standard.
· Three new unit standards have been developed to meet the needs of the gas industry.
Unit standards categorised as category D expire at the end of December 2010.
