Review of Community Support qualification

 

National Certificate in Diversional Therapy (Level 4) [Ref: 0727]

 

The Community Support Services Industry Training Organisation (CSSITO) has completed the review of the qualification above.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

Version 5 was issued following the review of the Diversional Therapy standards and to ensure the qualification continued to meet industry needs.  Feedback from stakeholders indicated that the qualification was no longer fit for purpose for a growing target group of diversional therapists working with consumers with a wide variety of needsThe review took place in consultation with industry members, assessors, and moderators through a series of meetings, e-mails, and telephone calls.

Changes to structure and content

·         The National Certificate in Community Support Services (Core Competencies) (Level 3) [Ref: 1327] has been specified as a prerequisite qualification for entry.

·         Standards 1277, 1307, 1834, 2780, 5015, 5019, 5020, 6400, 6401, 6402, 7926, 9677, 12349, 12355, 16816, 16817, and 16873 have been removed.

·         Standard 17029 has been replaced by standards 23920 and 23921, standard 5787 has been removed and replaced by standard 25770, and standard 5785 has been replaced by standard 23918.

·         Standard 23375 has been substituted for standard 1821.

·         Standards 23380, 23385, 23388, 23922, and 23923 have been added.

 

Transition

 

People currently working towards versions 2, 3, or 4 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification.

 

Those who choose to complete the earlier versions need to be aware that standards 1821, 1834, 5015, 5019, 5020, 5785, 5787, 16816, 16817, 16873, and 17029 expire at the end of December 2010.  Candidates will need to have achieved credit for the expiring standards before that date.

 

The last date for assessment to take place for versions 2, 3, and 4 of this qualification is December 2011.

 

This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards.  For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.

Key to Qualification Review Categories

 

Category A

The qualification is published as a new version with the same NQF ID

Changes are made to SSB name, contact details or purpose statement

Category B

The qualification is published as a new version with the same NQF ID

Changes are made to title, rules or components

The new version of the qualification recognises a similar skill set to that recognised by the previous version

The SSB is confident that people awarded the new or previous version are comparable in terms of competence

Transition arrangements are required if candidates must gain additional/different credits for the new version

Category C

A new (replacement) qualification is published with new NQF ID

Significant changes are made to the qualification in terms of components, structure, type or level

The SSB views people with the replacement qualification as being significantly different in terms of competence from those with the replaced qualification
