Revision of Transportation of Waste and Recoverable Resources qualifications
National Certificate in Transportation of Waste and Recoverable Resources (Liquid and Hazardous Waste) [Ref: 1226]
Tranzqual ITO has revised the qualifications listed above.
Date new version published May 2009
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013. This date has been extended to align the qualification with the standards contained within the Transportation of Waste and Recoverable Resources domain.
Reason for the revision
The qualifications have been updated to:
· maintain currency following the introduction of the Land Transport Rule: Work Time and Logbooks 2007, which resulted in the expiry of standard 15164 and the registration of standard 24089
· remove expiring and expired standards 1770, 1771, 17195, 17196, and 17228 from Ref: 1232
· account for changes to titles, levels, and credits resulting from the review of standards.
Main changes resulting from the revision
Expiring and expired standards have been removed from the qualifications. Reclassified and reviewed standards have been addressed and qualification credit totals have decreased.

· Standard 15164 replaced by standard 24089
· Qualification credit total decreased from 88 to 86.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1 may either complete its requirements or transfer to version 2.
For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the following expired standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for another standard - see table below.

Changes to structure and content
· Standards 1770 and 1771 removed from Core Compulsory
· Core Compulsory credit total decreased from 30 to 20
· Standards 17195, 17196 and 17228 removed from Heavy Motor Vehicle Strand
· Qualification level decreased from 2 to 1 for the Light Motor Vehicle Strand
· Minimum total of credits for the Heavy Motor Vehicle Strand increased from 25 to 34.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1 may either complete its requirements or transfer to version 2. The last date for people to complete version 1 is 31 December 2010.
