Summary of review and consultation process
The review was carried out as part of the ITO's planned review programme for unit standards. Meetings were held to review the unit standards and qualifications in the Textiles Manufacture subfield. These meetings involved ATITO and representatives of the textiles manufacturing sector who are involved in dyeing and finishing processes.
The review group was asked to consider the following:
· Feedback received from training advisors and through the moderation process.
· The currency of the unit standards and their suitability for existing and future qualifications.
· The appropriateness of unit standards to their domain.
· The accuracy and appropriateness of the content of the unit standards.
· The extent to which the levels and credits of the unit standards were appropriate for the skills described in the unit standards.
· Any gaps in skills and/or knowledge that could be filled by the development of new unit standards or by the expansion of existing unit standards.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standard 2912 was moved from the Fabric Finishing domain to the Textile Dyeing and Finishing domain.
· The level and credit value of unit standard 2913 were changed from level 4 and 24 credits to level 3 and 12 credits.
· The level and credit value of unit standard 2917 were changed from level 2 and 3 credits to level 3 and 12 credits.
· Changes were made to special notes to include definitions and to standardise references to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
· Changes were made to purpose statements for consistency with the elements.
· Unit standard 2916 was designated expiring and will not be replaced.
The unit standard categorised as D expires at the end of December 2010.
