Summary of review and consultation process
These unit standards were originally developed for the gas industry but have been reviewed as a result of other Industry Training Organisation's expressing an interest in having common plastic welding unit standards to cover all the industries that use polyethylene pipe. A full consultation process involving InfraTrain, Plastics and Materials Processing Industry Training Organisation, and Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has been completed to prepare these reviewed unit standards.
Main changes resulting from the review
The review process has resulted in the following changes:
· Unit standards 10980 and 10987 have been moved to the Plastic Fabrication domain.
· Special notes have been updated to reflect the requirements of the wider industry group.
· Minor changes have been made to performance criteria to reflect the wider industry requirements.
· Titles and elements have been changed to reflect the wider industry use of these unit standards.
· Unit standard 10980 has been raised from level 3 to 4 to better reflect the outcome of the standard and the credit value has increased from 3 to 6 credits.
· The credit value of unit standard 10987 has increased from 5 to 8 credits.
