The NZ Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation Incorporated (HITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary

 

Over the last three months HITO's Qualifications Advisory Committee (QAC) has undertaken the review of these unit standards.  The QAC is made up of representatives from industry, providers, employers and employees, and considers feedback from all areas of the sector as well as from the National Quality Assurance Manager.

 

Through the QAC, stakeholders were given the opportunity to contribute to the review of the unit standards.

 

The review process considered the following:

·      the currency of the unit standards and their suitability for existing and future qualifications

·      the accuracy and appropriateness of their content

·      whether levels and credits were commensurate with performance outcomes and the time taken to learn and demonstrate the skills

·      the assessability of the unit standards.

 

Main changes

 

·      The health and safety prerequisites for unit standard 2759 were updated in light of recent reviews of other hairdressing unit standards and the review of the National Certificate in Hairdressing (Professional Stylist) [Ref: 0022].

·      The wording and formatting of special notes were updated to accord with recently registered hairdressing unit standards.

·      The wording of some elements and performance criteria was updated to ensure clarity of assessment parameters for users of the unit standards.
