Responsibility for the unit standards referred to above has been transferred from the Hospitality Standards Institute (HSI) to the NZ Equine Industry Training Organisation Inc (NZEITO) and the standards have been reviewed.
Date new versions published November 2009
Planned review date December 2014
Summary of review and consultation process
HSI transferred the responsibility for the above standards to NZEITO as they now fall within its gazetted coverage. The training and assessment for these standards has always been carried out directly by the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB) and the review was undertaken by NZEITO in conjunction with HSI and the NZRB.
Representatives from the totalisator agency betting (TAB) business of the NZRB were consulted early in 2008 in meetings, followed up by email. Changes were made to the unit standards and then sent out to NZRB managers, and NZRB employees who have a business interest in TAB, for wider consultation. The new standards were also sent to HSI and NZEITO for distribution through their internal networks to relevant stakeholders.
Following wider consultation, the standards were endorsed by TAB representatives by teleconference call in late April 2009.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standard 22605 was replaced by 25846. The replacement standard reflects the current requirements of operating a TAB area. The level increased from 3 to 4 to more accurately reflect the complexity of outcomes, and the credits increased from 4 to 20 to reflect the time taken to practice the tasks, to achieve competency, and for assessment to be carried out.
· Unit standard 22606 will expire as it is no longer required by industry.
· Four new unit standards have been developed.
The unit standards categorised as category C and D expire at the end of December 2010.
