Revision of Sport qualification

Skills Active Aotearoa Limited has revised the qualification listed above.

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2010.
Reason for the revision
This revision was urgently required, as standards 5361 and 16788 in the compulsory section of the qualification were replaced in 2006 and expired in December 2008 making version 3 of the qualification unachievable.
In order to ensure currently enrolled students were not disadvantaged by this, Skills Active Aotearoa Limited has revised this qualification to replace these expired standards and provide transition arrangements. However, the replacement standards are currently undergoing review and quality assurance and the SSB intends to replace them with another standard.
The amendments made to version 4 of this qualification are, therefore, an interim measure to avoid candidates being disadvantaged until the qualification is reviewed as part of the Sport and Community Recreation subfields' review scheduled for 2010.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· Expired standards 5361 and 16788 were replaced by standards 22768 and 22771 respectively.
· Levels, credits, and titles of compulsory standards were updated to reflect current versions.
· Total credits reduced from 57 to 55.
Transition
People who hold credit for expired standards 5361 and 16788 may complete version 3 of this qualification or transfer their results to version 4 of the qualification. People who do not hold credit for these expired standards must transfer to version 4 of the qualification.
All new trainees will be enrolled in programmes leading to version 4 of the qualification.
The last date for assessments to take place for version 3 of the qualification is December 2012.
This qualification contains standards that replace expired standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expired standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.
