Due to the medium to low usage of these unit standards, the review, and revision and roll-over of standards in the Supported Learning domains - Interpersonal and Social Skills, Perceptual Awareness Skills, and Personal Care Skills was separated from the review of Work and Community Skills.

 

This report is in two parts.  The first deals with the review and designation expiring of the unit standards listed above in bold, and the second deals with the revision and rollover of the rest of the unit standards.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

The review was prompted by the unit standards passing their planned review date, and the nil or low usage of standards over the last 5 years.  As a result of the lack of usage it was recommended that the standards be designated expiring.

 

The recommended expiry of these standards was sent out for consultation to national moderators; providers who had recorded results against these standards, including ITOs; and the Supported Learning - Work and Community Skills review panel.  The expiry of the unit standards as listed above was endorsed by all those consulted.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

All unit standards listed above have been designated expiring due to nil or very low usage.

 

Unit standards categorised as category D expire at the end of December 2012.

Reason for the revision and rollover

 

The unit standards in these domains have passed their planned review date but have only been revised and rolled over, as there has been insufficient information to inform a full review.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision and rollover

 

·         A domain-specific context has been added to all unit standard titles to be consistent with title changes to the reviewed Work and Community Skills unit standards.

·         A recommendation has been included in the special notes, where appropriate, to suggest that the unit standards be assessed against in conjunction with other Supported Learning standards for integrated assessment.

·         Information about related unit standards has been added to the special notes of unit standards 11858, 11905, 11907, 11913, 11919, and 11921.  In the case of standards 11905, 11907, 11913, 11919, and 11921 related standards (11920, and 11922-11925) assess Māori concepts.

·         Performance criteria and range statements have been reworded for clarity of meaning in standards 11861, 11905, and 11913.
