Planned review date                                                                           December 2013

Summary

An industry consultation group involving ETITO, industry representatives, and other key stakeholders was established to undertake the review of the optional Ambulance unit standards in the National Diploma in Ambulance Practice (Level 5) [Ref: 1408].

The review was undertaken because the Ambulance unit standards reached their scheduled review date in 2009 and needed to be updated to better reflect the specific grouping of skills that match the needs of ambulance officers and the learning pathways within the sector.

Drafts of the reviewed unit standards were circulated to a wider industry group which included members of Ambulance New Zealand, for comment.  The feedback was considered by the consultation group and represented in the reviewed unit standards which were endorsed by Industry and the consultation group before submission to NZQA for registration.

The review of these unit standards ensures that they meet industry requirements, are fit for purpose, and enable consistent assessment and moderation.
