Summary of review and consultation process

On the 17 June 2009 the Advisory Group met to discuss the Automotive Reglazing unit standards and qualification.  The Advisory Group was comprised of industry representatives, provider representatives and representatives from NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation.  The unit standards were discussed and changes suggested as well as the development of four new standards to meet identified gaps.  Changes were made and endorsed by the Advisory Group in August 2009.

Main changes resulting from the review

·         Four new standards were developed.

·         A change was made to the title and element one of standard 22351 to refer to the installation of a single side window panel in a van as industry indicated that jobs requiring the installation of multiple side windows did not occur frequently enough in the automotive reglazing industry.

·         Changes were made to the title and elements of standard 22353 to include the removal, refitting, and testing of electronic components.  As a result the credit value was increased from 3 to 6.

·         Credit values of unit standards 22349 and 22351 were increased from 3 to 6 and 4 to 6 respectively to better reflect the evidence collection requirements needed for these standards.

·         Credit value of unit standard 22350 decreased from 4 to 2 because feedback from industry indicated that the outcome was less complex than first envisaged.

·         Changes were made to special notes to update and clarify the definitions.

·         Changes were made to range statements to improve clarity and make them consistent across the domain.

·         Changes were made to performance criteria to reflect the change from enterprise to worksite requirements.
