Revision of Electricity Supply qualification

 

National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Hydro Operator) (Level 4) [Ref: 1405]

 

The Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO) has revised the qualification listed above.

 

Date new versions published                                                          October 2009

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.

 

Reason for the revision

 

This qualification was revised to recognise the fact that some hydro operators do not undertake electricity system frequency and voltage work and were not therefore able to complete the qualification.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

A standard covering maintaining electricity system frequency and voltage has been made optional.

Changes to structure and content

·         the total credit value decreased from 83 to 77

·         standard 15578 was removed from the Compulsory section but included as an optional standard.

 

Transition

 

All existing candidates may either complete the requirements of version 1 of the qualification or transfer to version 2.  The last date for assessments to take place for version 1 is December 2012.

 

All new trainees will be enrolled in programmes leading to version 2 of the qualification.

 

It is not intended that anyone is disadvantaged by this revision and the above arrangements have been designed for a smooth transition.  Anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to:
