Review of Stevedoring and Ports Industry AMAP
Tranzqual ITO has completed the review of the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP) above.
Date new version published September 2009
The next AMAP review is planned to take place during 2014.
Summary of review and consultation process
The AMAP was reviewed to bring it in line with current AMAP registration requirements and with the Tranzqual ITO AMAP for Commercial Road Transport, Driving and Logistics [Ref: 0092].
The reviewed AMAP was drafted and circulated for comment both internally within Tranzqual ITO, and externally to all accredited organisations.
Compliance with new requirements
Accreditation requirements will apply with effect from January 2010.
Moderation system requirements will apply with effect from January 2010.
Accredited organisations will be audited for compliance with AMAP requirements from July 2010 onwards.
Main changes resulting from the review
ACCREDITATION INFORMATION (AI)
Standard Setting Body involvement in accreditation process
· A requirement for industry evaluation of documentation at Levels 1 and 2 has been included.
Visit waiver conditions
· Conditions where industry may waive involvement in an accreditation visit have been clarified.
Industry or sector-specific requirements for accreditation
· Criterion 1 - a requirement for links with industry has been included.
· Criterion 2 - requirements have been included regarding access to appropriately certified vessels and equipment, appropriate certification of assessors, access to an appropriate environment for assessment, access to appropriate resources and equipment, and compliance with occupational safety and health and other compliance body requirements.
· Criterion 3 - minimum trainer and assessor qualification and experience requirements have been clarified.
· Criterion 4 - minimum English language proficiency requirements for students have been specified.
· Criterion 6 - requirements relating to off-site practical training and assessment have been included.
· Criterion 7 - requirements for assessment resources and for Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) have been included.
· Criterion 8 - requirements for reporting have been included.
MODERATION INFORMATION (MI)
Moderation System
· An outline of the moderation system has been included.
Reporting
· The reporting requirements in relation to the moderation system have been updated.
Funding
· Funding of moderation costs has been updated to indicate that Tranzqual ITO reserves the right to charge for second and subsequent quality assurance cycles of pre-assessment moderation and for ‘actual and reasonable' travel and accommodation expenses related to the resolution of non-compliance with moderation requirements.
Non-compliance with moderation requirements
· Action taken in cases of non-compliance with moderation requirements has been updated.

· The appeals process has been outlined.
