Revision of Furniture qualification

 

National Certificate in Furniture (Level 3) with strands in Finishing, Machine Operator, Interior Fitments, Free Standing Furniture, Frame Making, Upholstery, Upholstery Cutting, and Upholstery Sewing [Ref: 1503]

 

Forest Industries Training and Education Council (FITEC) has revised the qualification listed above.

 

Date new versions published                                                          September 2009

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014 (unchanged).

 

Reason for the revision

 

This revision resulted from issues being raised about ITO coverage for Interior Fitments.  The Interior Fitments strand of the qualification has been removed pending resolution of the coverage issue.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

·         The Interior Fitments strand was removed from the qualification.

·         ‘Interior Fitments' was removed from title.

·         Credits by level table amended to show correct totals for Frame Making Strand.

·         Version 1 exemptions in the transition section moved so they also apply to version 2.

 

Transition

 

No transition arrangements are required as no trainees are enrolled in version 1 of this qualification.
