Summary of revision and review processes

 

As a result of feedback from assessors and industry experts, it became evident that some unit standards required revising to update wording of elements, performance criteria, and to clarify range statement requirements in order to ensure consistent interpretation.  Feedback from assessors suggested competency in handling cattle safely needs to be assessed in a practical environment.

 

Feedback from providers and assessors suggested assessing knowledge of feed budgeting at level 2 was unnecessary; standard 19081 was amended to better reflect the knowledge required at this level.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

·      Performance criterion 1.6 of standard 24557 has been clarified with a word change.

·      Range items in performance criteria 1.1 and 1.2 of standard 24623 have changed.

·      Assessment requirements in range items of performance criterion 1.1 of standard 19116 have changed.

·      Performance criterion 1.3 of standard 24630 has changed, and the element title has    been updated accordingly.

·      Performance criteria 2.1 and 2.2 of standard 24836 have changed.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

·      Standard 24620 has been replaced by standard 26417.  The learning outcome has changed from theory to practical, and the title of the replacement standard and the performance criteria have changed accordingly.

·      The credits for the replaced standard are set at 2 to reflect the learning and assessment time.

·      Standard 19081 has been amended with the removal of feed budgeting from element 1, and other minor changes to element 1 for clarity.  The title has changed to reflect this.

·      Credits for standard 19081 have decreased from 3 to 2 to reflect the learning and assessment time.

 

Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2013
