Summary

 

This review took place as part of the scheduled review cycle which incorporated a review of the entire suite of BCITO concrete industry qualifications.  As a result unit standards relevant to the concrete industry have been transferred from the Construction Trades subfield to the Concrete subfield, and to new sector-specific domains within that subfield.

 

Consultation with representatives from eight sectors within the concrete industry took place from January 2008, consisting of working party meetings for the precast concrete manufacturing industry, to identify relevant skill sets for each sector.  These meetings focussed on the unit standards which describe skills related to the precast concrete manufacturing industry.  Changes and development of the unit standards were signed off by this industry working party in May 2010.

 

This review is part of an ongoing process which is intended to be completed by late 2010, in which all unit standards relevant to the concrete industry within the Construction Trades subfield will be moved to domains within the Concrete subfield, and all concrete industry qualifications will be reviewed and reclassified.

 

Main changes

 

·      Unit standard 12036 was replaced by three new unit standards, 26526, 26527 and 26528.

·      Six new unit standards, 26520, 26521, 26522, 26523, 26524 and 26525 were developed.

 

Category C unit standard 12036 will expire at the end of December 2012.
