The Building Service Contractors of New Zealand Incorporated has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

An advisory group was formed with assessors, employers, trainers, providers, suppliers and trainees.  This group reviewed the unit standards and revised definitions and terminology to reflect world wide changes in the carpet and textile cleaning industry.  The definition of industry best practice was updated.  Comments and recommendations were incorporated throughout the review process.  The final versions of the new unit standards were sent to all parties concerned for a final sign-off.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

The review process has resulted in the following changes to the unit standards.

·         Range statements were updated.

·         References to legislation were updated.

·         Performance criteria (now evidence requirements) were updated.

·         Special notes (now explanatory notes) were updated and definitions added for clarification of spots, stains and industry best practice.

·         References to Australian and New Zealand Standards were included where required.

·         Unit standards 1576 and 1577 had the new prerequisite unit standard added.
