Summary

The Aviation Industry Association (AIA) and ATTTO convened  a consultation group comprising representatives of the CAA, aviation consultants, Air New Zealand, Airways Corporation, the RNZAF and the TEC in October and November 2010 to discuss the future of aviation training in New Zealand.  This forms the basis of the workforce development strategy and map of provision for the industry.  The group were strongly convinced that the knowledge and skills required for the flying practicum standards for the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) were most closely aligned with the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) level 5 descriptors, and it was therefore justified that they be set at level 5.  Implementing this change is the objective of the current revision.
