Summary of review and consultation process
Learning State Limited consulted with the New Zealand Police about whether the qualification and unit standards met industry requirements. Consultation indicated that the qualification and unit standards were no longer fit for purpose.
Candidates are now able to use the New Zealand Police College's own locally approved course to meet industry requirements through the New Zealand Police Government Training Establishment.

Transition
The last date for assessments to take place for versions 1 and 2 of the qualification is December 2013. The last date for candidates to enrol in programmes leading to the award of the qualification is January 2011.
Any candidates who enrol or who are enrolled in programmes leading to the award of versions 1 or 2 of the qualification should note that the choice of unit standards from the Elective section is significantly reduced because unit standards 9027-9031 expired in February 2008.
It is not intended that any existing candidates are disadvantaged by this review. However, anyone who feels disadvantaged should contact the standard setter at:
