20287-20297

The Plastics and Materials Processing Industry Training Organisation (PaMPITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          February 2010

Planned review date                                                                           December 2014

Summary of review and consultation process

The unit standards underwent a regular review with an Industry Advisory Group from September to November 2009.  The Industry Advisory group was made up of Paint Manufacturing industry experts, a Workplace Assessor and a qualifications expert.  Following the formal meetings further input was also sought from Paint Manufacturing industry representatives.

All industry representatives agreed that the reviewed amendments to the unit standards and a repackaging of the Paint Manufacturing qualifications will lead to greater uptake by industry and their trainees.  Changes to levels and credits, and the splitting of one unit standard, arising from this review, give a better reflection of the competencies involved in these unit standards.

Main changes resulting from the review

·                General technical amendments for clarification were made to each of the unit standards under review

·                Unit standard 20289 increased to Level 4 from Level 3 and increased its credit value from 9 to 12 credits

·                Two new unit standards, Unit 26284, Demonstrate knowledge of dispersion equipment used in paint manufacture, and Unit 26285, Demonstrate knowledge of dispersion in paint manufacture, were developed.  Together they replaced unit standard 20293.  The new unit standards were set at Level 3 with 2 credits

·                Unit standard 20294 increased to Level 4 from Level 3

·                Unit standard 20295 increased to Level 4 from Level 3
