Summary of review and consultation process

 

Unit standard 7445 had not been reviewed since its registration in 1996.  It was revised in 2007, only as part of the review of the other unit standards in the Organisational Direction and Strategy domain, with the intention of its being reviewed “alongside other standards on risk management".

 

The review of unit standard 7445 was undertaken at the request of the New Zealand Society for Risk Management in preparation for the adoption of a new risk management standard:  AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009 Risk management - Principles and guidelines.

 

Stakeholders were identified by the New Zealand Society for Risk Management and by NQS, and were consulted and invited to participate in the review.  The review panel that was formed drafted an amended standard, which was endorsed by the stakeholder consultation network.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

Unit standard 7445 was replaced by a new unit standard, which is significantly different.  The new unit standard reflects contemporary approaches to organisational risk management.

 

The category C unit standard will expire at the end of December 2011.
