Date new versions published                                                          January 2010

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.

Reason for the revision

At the review of the Aquaculture Diving standards in July 2009, it was noted that the Best Practice Guidelines were in need of review.  From the discussion at this standard review, it was identified that there was potential for development of new Aquaculture Diving standards in terms of compliance and other changes in the industry.  Part of the discussion outlined the need for Aquaculture Diving to stand alone as it was deemed a distinctive subset from the Aquaculture domain within the Seafood industry, as well as a more strategic decision in terms of training in the Aquaculture sector.

To coincide with the registration of the Aquaculture Diving domain, it was deemed timely to revise the affected qualifications.  The revisions consist of adding the Aquaculture Diving domain to the elective sections of the listed qualifications.

Main changes resulting from the revision

The qualifications were amended to account for the registration of the Aquaculture Diving domain, and the review and reclassification of standards to that domain.

Changes to structure and content

·         The qualification was reclassified in the Aquaculture Diving domain and the title updated accordingly.

·         The standards specified in the Elective were replaced by the Aquaculture Diving domain in which they now sit.    This is to ensure new Aquaculture Diving standards are available to candidates when they are registered, without needing to revise the qualification.
