Review of Public Sector Services qualification

Summary of review and consultation process
The National Certificate in Public Sector Services (Official Statistics) was reviewed to take into account changes made to standards in the Public Sector Core Skills domain which are included in the qualification.
Learning State and Statistics New Zealand met to review the National Certificate in Public Sector Services (Official Statistics) and the associated standards after stakeholder feedback indicated that the standards were not fit for purpose.
As a result of amendments to the standards, changes were made to the qualification as detailed below.

Changes to structure and content:
· The elective section was removed.
· The newly developed standard 25440 has been added to the Compulsory section of the qualification.
· The level of the qualification increased from 4 to 5.
· The level of standards 23268 and 23270 increased from 4 to 5.
Transition
Candidates may either complete the requirements for version 1 or transfer to version 2.
The last date for assessment of version 1 is 31 December 2011.
All new candidates will be enrolled in programmes leading to version 2 of the qualification.
Programmes leading to the award of version 2 of the qualification can begin upon registration of this version.
