Review of Electricity Supply qualifications
National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Condition Assessment) (Level 4) [Ref: 1101]
National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Patrols) (Level 3) [Ref: 1100]
The Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO) has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.
Date review report published March 2010
Summary of review and consultation process
A review was undertaken of the above qualifications to ascertain their continued relevance to industry. Network line companies and electrical contractor companies (Horizon Energy, WEL Networks, Northpower, Marlborough Lines, Electronet Services, and Delta Utility Services Ltd) were consulted. Feedback confirmed that the qualifications were no longer required.
There have been no enrolments into programmes leading to the award of these qualifications for several years, and no completions since 2005. Line Mechanic trainees receive sufficient training in their line mechanic training courses to undertake those line patrol and condition assessment duties required of them. They have shown no interest in working towards these additional qualifications. Industry was notified of the intention to expire these qualifications and no objections were received. Consequently it has been determined that these qualifications should be designated expiring.
Main changes resulting from the review
The following qualifications were designated expiring and will not be replaced. The last date for assessments to take place is 31 December 2010.
