The Joinery Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          May 2010

Planned review date                                                                           December 2014

Summary of review and consultation process

An Advisory Group meeting was held on 8 April 2009 for glazing and 2 June 2009 for glass processing.  The participants included industry and provider representatives.  The standards specific to each industry were discussed to decide whether they were still fit for purpose and what changes were required.  Feedback from the assessment and moderation process was also discussed.  Amendments were made to the unit standards and they were endorsed in July 2009.

Main changes resulting from the review

·      Six standards were designated expiring and will not be replaced as the processes are no longer carried out by the industry.

·      Six new standards were developed to cover new skills and knowledge required by the industry.

·      Standard 26485 replaced standard 2060.

·      Standard 26283 replaced standards 20496 and 20503.

·      Titles were amended to reflect changes to the content.

·      Levels and credits were amended to reflect the scope of the task being undertaken and the time involved in collecting evidence for assessment based on feedback from assessors and moderators and changes to industry practice.

·      Special notes were updated.

·      Elements and performance criteria were amended for consistency and to reflect updated industry practices.

·      Prerequisites were removed as they were no longer considered necessary.

Unit standards categorised as category C and D expire at the end of December 2011.
