Summary of review and consultation process

 

Feedback from providers and moderators initiated the review of the two Raranga unit standards for candidates that are beginners in raranga.  The whakaruruhau agreed with the stakeholder's feedback and endorsed the changes.

 

Feedback from tertiary providers, moderators, and tohunga whakairo recommended the Whakairo unit standard 2578 be designated expiring.  There has been very low usage of the unit standard since it was first registered in 1995 and no usage since December 2004.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

·         References to securing the ends in evidence requirements were removed from both unit standards 7879 and 7881, as the true outcomes for these standards are the completion of whiri and tīpare rather than securing the ends.

·         Title for unit standard 7881 has been amended to reflect all significant outcomes of the standard.

·         Unit 2578, Manage project plan to produce Māori art was designated expiring and will not be replaced.

 

The category D unit standard will expire at the end of December 2012
