The New Zealand Industry Training Organisation has revised the unit standard listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          May 2010

Planned review date                                                                           December 2012

Reason for the revision

Feedback from assessors and moderators has indicated that this unit standard is currently targeted at the wrong audience.  In the workplace this unit standard would be used by candidates who work in drug and/or alcohol prevention programmes in addition to their normal work role.  They are not in management positions but need to have an overview of issues that affect people with alcohol and/or drug problems in the workplace.  The New Zealand Industry Training Organisation - Industrial Health and Safety Advisory Group discussed the feedback and decided they would prefer to move this unit standard to the Occupational Health and Safety Practice domain as it better reflects the target audience who would use the standard.  The unit standard has also been amended to reflect this change in emphasis.  Changes to the unit standard were endorsed in January 2010.

Main changes resulting from the revision

·      The standard was moved from the Workplace Health and Safety Management domain to the Occupational Health and Safety Practice domain.

·      Target audience statement was added to the purpose statement.

·      Element 3 was amended.

·      The title was amended.
