Summary
These unit standards were reviewed in order to complete the review of all computing unit standards that had passed their planned review date.
The review involved the establishment of an expert panel comprising members from Tairawhiti and EIT Polytechnics, Te Wananga o Aotearoa, Secondary Schools, University of Waikato School Support Services and the National Moderators for Levels 1-4 and Level 5 and above.
It was agreed that unit standards 5959-5961 were no longer fit for purpose and should be replaced by newly developed standards. It was further agreed that unit standards 6763 and 18749 were no longer fit for purpose and were not required. National Qualifications Services may consider developing new standards in the future that better reflect contemporary programming skills.
The draft reviewed standards were made available for national consultation on the NZQA website through August and September 2010.
