Summary

Learning State Limited has completed a full review of the unit standards in consultation with New Zealand Police, New Zealand Customs Service, and the New Zealand Institute of Intelligence Professionals as part of the unit standard review cycle.

The review sought to confirm that the unit standards met industry requirements, were clear, logical and fit for purpose.

The review found that the majority of the unit standards from the Intelligence Analysis domain required changes.  Changes were made to the unit standards and they now reflected the needs of the sector.

Main changes

·      In standards 18499, 18500, 18501, 18502, and 18505-18508 titles were updated to better reflect the content of the unit standards.

·      Legislation, government guidelines, and industry codes of practice were updated.

·      The explanatory notes definitions for each unit standard were updated and standardised for consistency.

·      Outcomes and evidence requirements in all the standards were amended and standardised to better reflect the current practices and industry requirements as well as for consistency.

·      New evidence requirements were added to standards 18500, 18502, 18503, 18505, and 18508 to better reflect current practices and industry requirements.

·      New outcomes were added to standard 18505 to better reflect current practices and industry requirements.

·      Credit values for standards 18505, 18506 and 18508 were reduced to reflect notional learning time.

Last date for assessment of superseded versions of the standards is 31 December 2013
