Revision of Seafood Risk Management qualification
National Certificate in Seafood Risk Management (Vessel Operations Compliance) (Level 4) [Ref: 1393]
The Seafood Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification above.
Date new version published November 2010
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Reason for the revision
The Vessel Operations advisory group (consisting of industry experts, workplace assessors, and education provider assessors) met in August 2010 to discuss workplace training and qualification completions.
It was noted that an oversight had occurred in the elective in the current and previous versions of the qualification and workplace training in the Vessel Operations Compliance sector was not being adequately catered for.
As a result, the elective rule was amended to allow selection of standards from Level 4 or above, not just from Level 4. The final version was endorsed by the advisory group as being fit for purpose and meeting the requirements of the industry.
Main changes resulting from the revision
National Certificate in Seafood Risk Management (Vessel Operations Compliance) (Level 4) [Ref: 1393]
Changes to structure and content
· 'or above' was added to the elective rule so it now reads 'a minimum of 10 credits at Level 4 or above'.
Transition
Candidates currently working towards version 1 or 2 (both of which have a last date for assessment of December 2013) of this qualification will be transferred to version 3. All new candidates for these qualifications will be enrolled in version 3.
