Revision of Textiles Manufacture qualifications

National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Advanced Operations) (Level 3) with strands in Textile Processing and Textile Testing [Ref: 1122]
The Apparel and Textile Industry Training Organisation (ATITO) has completed the revision of the qualifications listed above.
Date new versions published October 2010
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Reason for the revision
This revision took place to add two new unit standards to the qualifications following the review of unit standards in the Fabric Finishing and Woollen Yarn Processing domains.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· Two new unit standards were added to the qualifications.
· The classification, levels, and credit values of reviewed unit standards were updated.
· One expiring unit standard was removed from the Level 3 qualification.

Changes to structure and content
· New Unit 26000, Process yarn in a continuous heat setting line, was added to Elective A.
· The level and credit value of standard 2917 changed from Level 2, 3 credits to Level 3, 12 credits.
· The title of standard 4174 was updated.
Transition
People currently enrolled in programmes leading towards the award of version 2 of this qualification may either complete that version, or transfer to version 3.
The last date for entry to training programmes or courses leading to the award of version 2 of the qualification is 31 December 2010.

Changes to structure and content
· New Unit 26001, Set up and monitor a continuous heat setting line, was added to the Textile Processing Strand.
· Standard 2912 was reclassified from the Fabric Finishing domain to the Textile Dyeing and Finishing domain.
· The level and credit value of standard 2913 changed from Level 4, 24 credits to Level 3, 12 credits.
· Expiring standard 2916 was removed.
· The titles of standards 4174 and 4175 were updated.
Transition
People currently enrolled in programmes leading towards the award of version 2 of this qualification may either complete that version, or transfer to version 3.
The last date for entry to training programmes or courses leading to the award of version 1 of the qualification is 31 December 2010.
It is anticipated that no existing candidates are disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, candidates may appeal in the first instance to ATITO, at the address below, which will consider an appeal on a case-by-case basis.
