Revision of expiring Business qualification

National Diploma in Business (Level 5) [Ref: 0783] (expiring)

NZQA National Qualifications Services has revised the qualification listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          October 2010

Reason for the revision

This qualification was reviewed in June 2009 and replaced by the National Diploma in Business (Level 5) with optional strands in Accounting, Finance, Finance - Māori, Health and Safety Management, Human Resource Management, Māori Business and Management, Marketing, People Development and Coordination, Project Management, Quality Management, and Systems and Resources Management [Ref: 1498].

The replaced qualification has been affected by the replacement, expiry, change of level, and/or reclassification of standards within the Business field; and the reclassification of standards from the Māori Business and Management subfield (in the Business field) into the Māori Business and Management subfield (in the Māori field).  As a consequence, some existing candidates were no longer able to meet the requirements for award of the qualification.  The revision of this qualification allows these candidates to meet the requirements and be awarded the qualification.

Main changes resulting from the revision

·         Candidates may now use credits for unit standards from the Business Relationships Management, Organisational Direction and Strategy, and Systems and Resources Management domains to meet the requirements of Group 3 of the Elective section.

·         Candidates may now use credits for unit standards from the Business Law domain (in the Business Environment subfield) to meet the requirements of Group 4 of the Elective section.

·         Candidates may now use credits for unit standards from the Quality Management domain (in the Business Operations and Development subfield) to meet the requirements of Group 5 of the Elective section.

·         Candidates may now use credits for unit standards from the People Development and Coordination and Systems and Resources Management domains to meet the requirements of Group 6 of the Elective section.

·         Candidates may now use credits for unit standards from the Business Culture and Environment domain to meet the requirements of Group 7 of the Elective section.

·         Candidates may now use credits for unit standards from the Human Resource Management and People Development and Coordination domains (in the Business Operations and Development subfield) to meet the requirements of Group 8 of the Elective section.

·         Candidates may now use credits for unit standards from the Māori Business and Management subfield (in the Māori field) to meet the requirements of Group 11 of the Elective section.

·         Candidates may now use credits for unit standards from the Business Environment, Business Operations and Development subfields, and the Māori Business and Management subfield (in the Māori field) to meet the requirements of Set A of the Balance section.
