Summary of review and consultation process

Representatives of the Adventure Tourism industry, including Skills Active Aotearoa Limited, the Tourism Industry Association, the parachute, quad biking, horse trekking, and off-road industries, and a training provider, met to determine the suitability for purpose of the National Certificate in Adventure Tourism (Level 4) [Ref: 1099].  The meeting aimed to create a qualification covering the skills of managing and leading adventure tourism activities safely and providing an enjoyable tourism experience to clients.  Industry indicated there was a requirement to place a strong emphasis on the tourism and safety management aspects of adventure tourism, particularly given the results of the government review of risk management and safety in the adventure tourism sector.  The reviewed qualification was circulated to the advisory group and endorsement was obtained.

Main changes resulting from the review
