NZQA National Qualifications Services has completed the revision and rollover of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published October 2010
Planned review date December 2013
Summary
In August 2008, almost all of the unit standards in the Animal Training domain were reviewed and designated as expiring. Unit standards 19658 and 19659 were excluded from that review as the Fire and Rescue Services Industry Training Organisation (FRSITO) wished to assume standard-setting responsibility for them. This has been achieved by this change of responsibility for and revision and rollover of the standards.
Main changes
Responsibility for the unit standards has been transferred from NZQA National Qualifications Services to FRSITO.
In addition, in each unit standard:
· Classification details have been changed to match the standards' new classification
· References to other unit standards have been updated in explanatory notes
· All references to the Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) Best practice guideline: canine readiness evaluation process have been deleted as the guideline is out of date.
· The range to outcome 1 has been deleted.
No other changes have been made to the outcomes or to the evidence requirements.

Impact on Accreditation and Moderation Action Plans (AMAPs)
The unit standards have been transferred from AMAP [Ref: 0087] to FRSITO's AMAP [Ref: 0039]. No transition arrangements are required.
Only expiring standard 7402 remains on AMAP [Ref: 0087]. The AMAP will therefore expire when the unit standard expires in December 2011.
