Revision of Mediation qualifications

Learning State has revised the qualifications listed above.
Date new versions published September 2010
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Reason for the revision
Learning State has revised the two mediation qualifications to extend the intended review date and to ensure the qualifications accurately reflect the unit standards registered on the Directory of Assessment Standards.
Main changes resulting from the revision
National Certificate in Mediation (Interpersonal Communications) (Level 4) [Ref: 0968]
Changes to structure and content
· Qualification credit value increased from 47 to 48.
· The structure was amended to clarify the requirements for award. The overarching rule was removed. The Balance was renamed Elective, and now specifies a minimum of 26 credits at Level 4 or above.
· Standard 9694 was substituted for standard 9706.
· The elective section was updated to reflect changes made to the Business field classifications.
Transition
Candidates currently working towards version 1 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to the version 2. The last date for enrolment into version 1 is December 2010. The last date for assessment of version 1 is December 2013.
This qualification contains a standard that has been substituted for an earlier standard. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the substituted standard - see table below.

· There were no changes top structure and content.
Transition
There are no consequences for transition. Candidates currently working towards version 4 may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to the new version.
It is not intended that anyone is disadvantaged by these revisions. Candidates who feel they have been disadvantaged by these transition arrangements should contact Learning State at the address below.
