Revision of Meat Processing qualification

National Certificate in Meat Processing (Introductory) with an optional strand in Workplace Safety and Health [Ref: 0932]

The New Zealand Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          September 2010

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014.

Reason for the revision

Feedback from assessors and industry stakeholders indicated that candidate's were having difficulty obtaining unit standard 24595, which is a level 3 unit standard, as part of this qualification.  The standard has been removed and an additional balance section added to enable candidates to select unit standards that fit with their job roles from a broad range of job tasks within a meat processing plant.  Changes were made to the qualification and it was endorsed by the industry stakeholders in July 2010.
