Summary

 

In 2008 the Ministry of Education registered achievement standards in the Understanding Religion domain.  These were developed for schools by the secondary education sector to replace the unit standards in the Christian Studies and Religious Studies subfields.  Representatives of key stakeholders within the secondary and tertiary sectors who have recorded assessment results for any of the standards were consulted.

 

Some high-use standards in Biblical Studies, Christian Ethics, Christian Theological Studies, Christian Worship and Preaching, and History of Christianity domains were not included in the review of Christian Studies and Christian Ministries subfields completed in 2009.  This was to allow for consultation with representatives of end users.  After consultation, the standards were reviewed in 2010 and designated expiring.

 

Unit standard 6048 was inadvertently not included in the review completed in 2010.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

·         Unit standard 6048 has been designated expiring and will not be replaced.

·         The Christian Ministries subfield and the domains therein have been designated as lapsing (expiring).

 

The category D unit standard will expire at the end of December 2011
