Summary
A group of pilot training providers met with the intention of assisting to determine the structure and content of a proposed New Zealand Diploma in Aviation (Pilot). The SSB had underestimated the level and credits of two standards that have been identified to be included in the diploma. It was determined that unit standard 26191 was too low in credits for the time required for training and assessment, and that the unit standard 26820 had been undervalued in its level.
Furthermore there were several areas that needed standards which had not yet been developed; helicopter weight and balance (Subject No 51), and airline transport pilot licence multi-crew preparation were identified as some of those areas. After consultation through the group of pilot training providers and representatives for the Map of Provision in Aviation training, the content, levels and credit values of the new and revised standards were agreed.
Main changes
· Standard 26191 increased in credit value.
· Standard 26820 increased to level 6.
· Standards 27259 and 27260 were developed to fulfil an identified need.
