Summary of review and consultation process

These qualifications were reviewed as part of the scheduled review cycle for the Floor and Wall Tiling domain, to update content in accordance with identified industry requirements, and with changes to standards in the Floor and Wall Tiling domain.

Consultation with representatives from the Floor and Wall Tiling industry took place in June 2010.  It was identified that the National Certificate in Floor and Wall Tiling (Introductory Skills) (Level 2) [Ref: 1182] was no longer required by industry and that relevant skills from that qualification should be incorporated into the National Certificate in Floor and Wall Tiling (Level 4) [Ref: 0726].  In addition, it was agreed that new skills required by industry would be included in the qualification.

Main changes resulting from the review

The National Certificate in Floor and Wall Tiling (Introductory Skills) (Level 2) [Ref: 1182] was designated expiring and was therefore removed as prerequisite for the National Certificate in Floor and Wall Tiling (Level 4) [Ref: 0726].

Updates arising from the review of Floor and Wall Tiling unit standards were made to the Level 4 qualification.  Unit standards covering first aid, hand and power tools, interpretation of contract drawings and specifications, knowledge of tiles, mosaic tiling, and acoustic membrane systems were included in the Level 4 qualification.
