Summary
In March 2011, the Plastics and Materials Processing Industry Training Organisation (PaMPITO) carried out of the review of these unit standards, which had passed their planned review date.
Members of the review group were emailed the reviewed versions of the unit standards and asked to submit feedback. This feedback was then discussed at a one-day meeting. The review group was made up of industry representatives including PaMPITO field staff, representatives from three organisations who carry out both pressure and vacuum thermoforming processes, and a private training establishment.
The group considered technology and equipment advancements, industry best practice and requirements, changes in legislation, and assessment issues. As a result of this consideration, one new Level 4 unit standard was developed. All of the changes to these unit standards were endorsed by the review group.
Main changes
· The titles of unit standards 261, 262, 265 and 266 were updated.
· The credit value of unit standard 266 decreased from 10 to 8.
· Where necessary, changes were made to the explanatory notes, evidence requirements, and range statements of the reviewed unit standards for consistency with industry best practice.
· New unit standard 27553 was developed to cover the skills and knowledge required to trial and optimise an initial thermoforming production run.
